What comes to mind when you think of ambition?

To many, ambition has developed a reputation synonymous with the love of earthly honor and fame hunting. As a result, the organ of ambition—the God-implanted drive to improve, produce, develop, and create—is neglected and well on its way to paralysis.

For some Christians, dreams are numbed. For others, there are no dreams; life just happens. One thing is certain: ambition needs help.

Dave Harvey is calling for a rescue. He wants to snatch ambition from the heap of failed motivations and put it to work for the glory of God. To understand our ambition, we must understand that we are on a quest for glory. And where we find glory determines the success of our quest.

In Rescuing Ambition, Harvey grounds our ambitions in God’s agenda, calling us to be ambitious for God’s renown. While his timely message is energizing and motivating, Harvey also deals honestly with what happens when our ambitions are hindered. He explores the important relationship between ambition and contentment and offers counsel on what it means to pursue godly dreams in the face of disappointment, delay, and failure.

When was the last time you were ambitious for God’s renown? Has your God-given organ of ambition been starved and sedated for too long? It’s time to reach further and dream bigger for the glory of God.
